Review Text - Lovasket

Lovasket is a teen lit novel written by Luna Torahasyu. This novel covered in 312 pages and this book is the first edition of six edition of Lovasket. The first Lovasket published on 2007 by Gramedia Pustaka Utama in Jakarta.  The main character is Vira. Vira is a beautiful woman and a basketball player.

Lovasket tell about Vira, a rich girl who has the greatest influence on Altavia High School, the most popular High School in Bandung. Her father as a director, she is a child and essentially so perfect. Rich, a mainstay player girls' basketball team. After her parents going bankrupt, Vira’s life has changed 180 degrees. Everything change when his father was accused of corruption. Besides, the father have to go to jail, Vira’s home and her belongings inside are confiscated. She is shunned by her friends. After the incident, Vira move to other school in outskirts of Bandung and order to make friends and a new school atmosphere.

Vira turned herself into a closed figure. She do not want to be friends with anyone. In fact, she is away from the basketball. Niken is Chairman of the council High School 31, High School on the outskirts of Bandung. Her High School has decided to cut its budget for extracurricular.  The extracurricular which do not has any achievement will be eliminated. It's so great for Niken task: he must select extracurricular which will be maintained and which should be removed. If Niken could persuade the new students to join extracurricular basketball, this extracurricular would survived. Moreover, it may also make Niken freshman depression seem more cheerful. Maybe Niken can make Vira smile again.

Vira joined the basketball team and success to drive the team into the great performance. While she is trying to increase the level of performance, she makes her friend misunderstanding with her about boyfriend. She feels sad, because she assume that she has a better life there, but she face a problem with some people whom she loved.

Over time, she could convince her friend that she doesn’t has any feeling with him, and her family become wealth, she’s not come back to her old school Altavista, but she is still going to school on 31 High School. Then, she get a scholarship in Sydney Australia, and she meets with her boyfriend there.

I like this book because of the simple and the interesting story that Luna has made. This novel is suitable for a teenager. This story covers the story of teenage life today. The reader can visualize and imagine the story of this novel. Especially the atmosphere in the basketball game. Provide an overview of the what, who, and how true friends really are. Deliver messages to teenagers about friendship, competition and achievement.
