Descriptive - Purwokerto

Purwokerto is a capital city of Banyumas Regency, Central Java, Indonesia. It has 4 subdistrict and 27 village. Purwokerto also called as Purwokerto ‘SATRIA’, it stands for Sejahtera, Adil, Tertib, Rapi, dan, Aman (prosperous, fair, order, neat, and peaceful).

Purwokerto located in the south part of Slamet Mountain, the biggest mountain in Central Java. Purwokerto has two major streets, they are Jl. Jendral Sudirman and Jl. Gatot Soebroto. Purwokerto has some interesting place such as Baturaden which located 15 km to north, it has Pancuran Pitu, Pancuran Telu, Sarabadak cave. Museum Bank BRI was built in this city because, the first time Bank in Indonesia located in Purwokerto, and the founder is R. Wirya Atmadja, the native. There are some city park inside the city, Alun-Alun, Andhang Pangrenan, and F2, Curug Gede, Curug Cipendok, Curug Ceheng, Saka Tunggal Mosque, Bumi Perkemahan Baturaden, Bumi Perkemahan Kendalisada, Sunyi Lake, Gerak Serayu Barrage. Purwokerto also has sports facilities in GOR SATRIA, there is Football Stadium, Basketball Stadium, Volley Stadium, Futsal Stadium, Motocross Circuit, Bicycle and Roller-skate circuit, Shooting ground, Tennis Stadium, and wall climbing. There is one famous badminton player named Christian Hadinata who was born in Purwokerto.

Purwokerto has known as the one of ‘Student City’ in Java, because there is many university such as, Jendral Soedirman University, Muhammadiah Purwokerto University, Wijayakusuma University, Sekolah Tinggi Teknologi Telematika Telkom, Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Agama Islam Negeri (STAIN), Sekolah Tinggi Teknik Wiworotomo Purwokerto, Sekolah Polisi Negara (SPN) Polda Jawa Tengah, Politeknik Kesehatan DEPKES Semarang - Kampus Purwokerto, STIMIK AMIKOM Purwokerto, Sekolah Tinggi Ilu Kesehatan Bina Cipta Husada, Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Kesehatan Harapan Bangsa, AMIK Bina Sarana Informatika Purwokerto.

Purwokerto has 2 local TV channel, they are Banyumas TV, and Serayu TV. Many radio channel such as, RRI, Mitra FM, Metro FM, Paduka FM, Dian Swara FM, Yasika FM. When we want to shopping, Purwokerto give many option for us such as Rita Supermall, Rita Isola, Rita Jend. Soedirman, Kebon Dalem, Purwokerto City Walk, Moro Mall, Matahar Department Store, Cherry Fresh Fruit, and many traditional market (Pasar Wage, Pasar Kliwon, Pasar Pon, Pasar Manis, Pasar Pahing).
