Narrative Text - BATURADEN

Once upon a time there was a handsome young man named Suta. He lives in Banyumas, Central java and worked as a servant on the Banyumas Regency to take care of the horse and cleaned the byre of Adipati Kutaliman.

He was a hard worker and honest, so he never got any problem during his life. One day after he finished his job, Suta went around the regency in order to refresh his mind and for knowing his world.

Suta just throughout a mango tree and he heard a shrieking from a girl. Directly. He looked for the girl who shrieking loudly. There was a big snake in the back of mahogany tree open its mouth widely and ready to eat the girl in front of the snake. The girl was clumsy, afraid and her face turned into white.

Suta was a thin boy, honesty he afraid about the snake too. But without any review of pros and cons to safe the girl, he moved towards the snake. Even though he wasn’t the good on using sword, but he still tried to defeat the snake. After fighting hardly, he succeed to defeat it. Suddenly the girl fell fainted into ground. Her servant came and brought her under a mahogany tree.

Suta came towards her, and he shocked when he knew who the girl is. The girl is the princess of Banyumas Regency. As a resident of Banyumas, he ever heard about her beauty, kindness, cleverness, and humbleness. But he never met her before, he was so happy because of his met with her. The princess so thankful to Suta about his help, without him she could die.

Since this incident, Suta and Princess often met, going around the regency with his horse. In a process of time, there was seed of love that growing up between them. Suta beg to propose the princess as his wife to her father, Adipati Kutaliman. Adipati Kutaliman who heard about relationship between them didn’t suppose that Suta brave to propose his daughter. Remember they were in the different social status, he became angry and felt guilty because his daughter was propose by a servant. “You’re a servant! You just make a friendship with your horse! You’re undeserving to be my son in law!” Adipati said. “Send this rubbish to the jail! Now!” he asked to his soldier.

Adipati put Suta on the jail under the ground which dark, damp and stuffy. He never gave Suta any food and water. The princess knew the suffering of Suta, her heart was hurt, because her love was suffer. She made a plan for set him free and asked her servant to released him. On the night, she waiting for Suta on the one side of her palace. Her servant skulk into the jail and met him lied on the ground, he was shiver and sick. His body became thinner, so the servant gave him a cloth and guide him to get out from the jail and came towards The Princess. They was riding a horse to go far away from the palace and the regency. They rode the horse to the south part of Slamet Mountain.

The princess take care of him until he was heal. They like to live there, and they got married and have a child. So that placed named ‘Baturraden’ consist of two words ‘Batur’ and ‘Raden’. Batur means servant, and raden means a prince of king.
